Universal Pictures is teaming up with Skybound Entertainment to develop a screen adaptation of Stealth, an upcoming comic book series with filmmaker Lee Daniels hired to direct.
The script for the movie will be penned by Iron Man writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.
The synopsis of the film reads:
For decades, Stealth has waged war on crime in Detroit, but now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s—his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs… with enemies all too eager to force his retirement.
Stealth seems like a different story from the many superhero tales we have seen and the vulnerability of the hero is something that should be its emotional core.
Also, with the main character fighting both inner and external battles, the movie should strike a balance between action and drama; an appealing element for movie lovers worldwide.
Lee Daniels found success with films like The Butler and Precious so his expertise as a director will come into play here as he hopes to deliver a unique story.
Stealth comics will be launched under Skybound/Image imprint on the 11th of March, 2020.
