Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s third outing as the comedic cop duo in Bad Boys for Life is making some serious money at the box office.
When the first movie was released in 1995, the bromance, comic factor and insane action won a lot of fans over and it spawned a second movie that was an improvement in every way.
The third time they say is a charm and that is proving to be very true as Bad Boys for Life is now the number one film at the box office, debuting with an estimated $68.1 million (making it the second-largest Martin Luther King weekend gross ever).
Making $59.17 million in its first three days also makes the movie the second-largest January three-day debut (behind 2015’s American Sniper).
The film has also received largely positive reviews, earning an ‘A’ Cinemascore and a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Internationally, it has made $38.6 million from 39 markets, with Germany in the lead.
Bad Boys for Life stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, and Charles Melton. It was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
