Letitia Wright has secured a starring role in the forthcoming thriller The Silent Twins.
Wright achieved global recognition with the release of the Marvel’s superhero film Black Panther (2018), playing the younger sister of the Wakandan hero.
She reprised the role of Shuri in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, becoming a fan favorite and receiving a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2019.
The British actress is set to appear in The Silent Twins, a stand-alone feature from rising Polish director Agnieszka Smoczynnska.
Based on the lives of June and Jennifer Gibbons, the film will tell how the real-life twins were separated. Originally from the West Indies, they both grew up in Wales and became known as the “Silent Twins” because they refused to communicate with anyone other than each other.
The twins developed their own language and became less responsive to their environment due to the shock of being separated.
The Silent Twins will follow the girls as their isolation leads to their involvement in petty crime, violence and eventual incarceration in a high-security mental hospital.
The girls were ferociously studied by doctors and psychologists who ignored their family’s protests that they could live normal lives.
June and Jennifer decided that the only way they could be truly free and be integrated back into society was for one of them to take her life.
Anita Gou’s Kindred Spirit s producing, alongside U.K. production company 42. Protagonist Pictures will handle the international sales of the movie.
