James Bobin who directed The Muppets is in negotiations to helm Clue, a movie reboot of the board game with Ryan Reynolds attached to star.
Actor Jason Bateman was in talks to direct and co-star star back in September 2019 but a deal with was never finalized because of his involvement with the Netflix series Ozark.
Clue comes from 20th Century Fox Studios and is produced through Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort outfit with Hasbro’s AllSpark Pictures also producing
The script is being written by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and the film is said to be a comedy/murder mystery inspired by the popular board game from Hasbro.
First adapted for the screen in 1985 when it was directed by Jonathan Lynn and starring Tim Curry, the movie went on to become a cult hit.
Clue centers on characters from the board game on a chase to find out which of them is responsible for the murder of Mr. Boddy. It’s dark, slapstick humor contributed largely to its success.
