MGM is officially moving forward with a third Creed movie with lead star Michael B. Jordan.
The Creed films are set in the world of the character of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and focus on Adonis Creed (Jordan), the son of late boxer Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).
Balboa reluctantly agrees to train Adonis, and so begins the young man’s ascent to the top in the world of boxing.
The second Creed movie was released in 2018, and saw Adonis face his most dangerous opponent yet; Viktor Drago (played by Florian ‘Big Nasty’ Munteanu).
Made on a modest budget of $50 million, Creed II earned an impressive $214 million and this has spurred MGM to move ahead with plans for a sequel.
THR reports that the studio has enlisted the help of Zach Baylin to pen a script for Creed 3. Plot details are unknown but it is assumed that Stallone will also be back.
Baylin is behind the script of King Richard, a biopic that will take a look at the life of real-life tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams. His hiring by MGM shows that he is good at what he does so we should expect a great third outing for Adonis Creed.
