Acclaimed movie director Steven Spielberg has stepped down from helming the upcoming Indiana Jones 5.
Spielberg directed the first four films in the popular franchise and was billed to return for the fifth, but that will no longer be the case.

According to a report by Variety, the filmmaker made the decision to step down but will remain attached to the project as a producer.
James Mangold has also had an impressive career as a director, with recent films like Logan and Ford v Ferrari picking up notable nominations.
Sources revealed that Spielberg left the directorial position in order to make way for a younger generation to bring their perspective to the production.

Mangold has shown that he is good at making both action and dramatic features and should be a viable replacement for the more experienced Spielberg.
Harrison Ford is returning as the hero. He was most recently seen in the just-released movie adaptation of The Call of the Wild.
