Disney has decided to release two of its movies early on digital due to the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
20th Century Studios’ The Call of the Wild (an adaptation of the Jack London classic) and Searchlight Pictures’ comedy Downhill will both be made available to buy digitally in the United States from today, March 27, 2020.
Walt Disney Studio disclosed that both films can be purchased on digital platforms in the US for $14.99 for The Call of the Wild and $9.99 for Downhill.
This news comes a month after both movies were released in theatres; The Call of the Wild on February 21, and Downhill on February 14.
It is typically the norm for movies that have hit cinemas to be made available digitally 74 days after arriving in movie theatres but that tradition is now being broken due to the continued spread of COVID-19.
The first to break the practice was Universal, with early digital releases of their films The Invisible Man, Emma, and The Hunt.
