Jamie Foxx has signed on to direct When We Pray, a faith-based drama for Fight For Fame Films.

Foxx became widely famous for portraying Ray Charles in the 2004 biographical movie Ray, for which he won the Academy Award, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Award, Critics’ Choice Movie Award and Golden Globe for Best Actor.

Other movies in which he has featured include Dreamgirls (2006), Miami Vice (2006), Django Unchained (2012), and Baby Driver (2017).

According to a report by Variety, the black American actor will be on the director’s chair for When We Pray, a film to be financed by Cinema Libre Studio.

When We Pray tells the story of two brothers who become pastors at different churches in the same community. One of them uses high-tech to develop his church, while the other follows a humbler path that soon finds his church in decline and in need of financial assistance.

Foxx and Donald Ray ‘Speedy’ Caldwell penned the screenplay and production is scheduled to start before the end of the year. The movie will be streamed at the Garden State Film Festival.
