50 Cent's 'Black Mafia Family' Gets The Green Light From Starz

The latest project from the hip hop star, actor and businessman is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s, birthing one of the most influential crime families in the United States.

Demetrius ‘Big Meech’ Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry ‘Southwest T’ Flenory’s business acumen, and their fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip hop would take the two brothers to an iconic level on a global scale.

Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the foundation of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement.

The series is billed as a story of love, family, and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.
50 Cent talking about the project, said:

“I told you ‘Black Mafia Family’ was coming, and it’s going to be the biggest show on television. Meech and Terry are legends and I’m excited to bring their story to Starz.”

The rapper will serve as an executive producer alongside Randy Huggins. The series will be produced by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film and Television.
