Disney has moved the scheduled release dates for ‘Soul’ and ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’.

The announcement was made yesterday morning in response to the ongoing theater closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Soul’ was slated for release in June 2020 but will now arrive on November 20, 2020. ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ was scheduled to be released on Thanksgiving weekend has now been moved to March 12, 2021.

The shifting of the release date for ‘Soul’ has been long expected due to the fact that all other releases for June have been moved back, including Warner Bros’ ‘Wonder Wonder 1984’.

Movie theaters are not expected to open until at least July, but even that isn’t guaranteed as the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.

‘Soul’ is directed by Oscar winner and Pixar creative head Pete Docter and follows the story of a music teacher whose soul is separated from his body. This sends him on a cosmic journey to a world where all souls are created. The voice cast includes Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, and Angela Basset.

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ is written by Adele Lim and is about a young warrior in Southeast Asia named Raya who searches for a shapeshifting dragon (voiced by Awkwafina). It is directed by Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins.
