Paramount has set new release dates for the Tom Cruise sequel ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place 2’.
Originally set to hit movie theatres in last month, ‘A Quiet Place 2’ will now arrive in September 2020, while ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ which was meant to open on June 24, 2020, now has a new date of December 23, 2020.
Another film which has been delayed is ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run’. Initially set for May 21, it has now been pushed back to July 31.
Also, ‘The Tomorrow War’ (starring Chris Pratt) was removed from its release slate of Christmas and is now being held up by the ‘Top Gun’ sequel.
Paramount is the latest studio to change its release schedule following the same action taken by Sony and Universal.
Sony on Monday delayed the releases of ‘Morbius’, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ and ‘Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway’. The aforementioned films will arrive in 2021.
Tom Hanks’ World War II movie ‘Greyhound’ which was meant to come in June has also been shifted. A release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
