Halle Berry is getting ready to pack her space gear as she heads to space to save humanity in Moonfall.
Moonfall comes from director Roland Emmerich, widely known for making disaster movies like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012.
Halle Berry will star alongside Josh Gad in the upcoming film which centers on a mysterious force knocking the moon from its orbit around Earth, sending it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. Responding to the imminent threat, a ragtag team is sent on an impossible last-ditch mission into space to land on the lunar surface and save Earth from annihilation.
Variety reports that Berry will play a NASA astronaut-turned-administrator whose last space mission holds a clue about the impending catastrophe.
Gad will portray a scientific genius who has correctly concluded that the moon has fallen out of its orbit. Emmerich directs with a script he wrote in with his 2012 co-writer Herald Kloser and Spenser Cohen.
Moonfall is scheduled to be released in 2021 by Lionsgate and production is slated to begin this fall in Montreal, pending safety measures around the COVID-19 pandemic.
