Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, says COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms will be treated at home as a result of increasing numbers of confirmed cases.
He also disclosed that the state is now at the active stage of community transmission.
Abayomi said: “We have exceeded the containment phase now. We are at the active community transmission stage.
“We will be concentrating on people with severe cases and isolating them while mild cases will be managed at home. Our attention is shifting to community-based isolation.”
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 199 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Lagos on Wednesday bringing the total infections in the state to 2,954.
The country’s confirmed cases stand at 6,667 with 1,840 persons discharged and 200 fatalities recorded.
