Popular filmmaker Michael Bay is backing a pandemic thriller titled Songbird, teaming up with former Paramount Pictures’ boss Adam Goodman to produce it.
According to GeekTyrant, the film is described as a thriller in the spirit of Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield and takes place two years in the future.
In the plot, the pandemic hasn’t gone away as lockdowns have been rolled back and then reinstated, becoming more serious as the virus continues to mutate.
Per the report, Songbird contains no supernatural elements, but there is a government conspiracy and paranoia. How these impact the cast of characters who remain in lockdown will be seen.
The movie will reportedly begin production five weeks from now in Los Angeles amidst the lockdown in the area. It will be the first film to be shot in the city since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Casting is currently underway.
Songbird will be directed by Adam Mason who also penned the script with Simon Boyes. They are said to be providing remote training for the actors.
Details on how the filmmakers plan to shoot the movie at a time the guilds are not done compiling their own safety protocols are not known but the filmmakers behind Songbird have screened their plans by the guilds and have been given the green light.
