Shazam star Zachary Levi has some details for fans who are concerned about the future of the sequel.
Levi says plans for a second part of the DC Comics superhero story are still on track despite the shutdown on movie and television productions due to the coronavirus lockdown.
In a chat with ET, the 39-year-old disclosed a script (which he called ‘amazing’) is being written and that some protocols will be put in place before production starts.
Right now, they’re writing an amazing script. I don’t have any real details on that. I’ve got some generals and they all sound amazing. There’s definitely going to be some major protocols that are put in place. What those protocols are, I’m not sure yet. I’m doing my own due diligence as an actor waiting to go back to work, but also as a producer and someone who’s trying to create my own world out here in which to produce. I’ve been actively trying to figure out when the gears can start moving a bit again, but I don’t know for sure.”
Levi starred in Shazam, a film revolving around 14-year-old Billy Batson, a boy imbued with extraordinary powers after meeting an ancient wizard.
The release date for Shazam 2 was revealed back in December 2019. It is scheduled to be released in November 2022.
