Plot details for The Tax Collector, a gritty indie film co-starring Shia LaBeouf have emerged.
The movie is scheduled for release in theaters this August and is directed by David Ayer. It has just been acquired by RLJE Films.
According to new plot details, Shia LaBeouf isn’t the main star of the movie. That role has been given to Bobby Soto (Narcos: Mexico).
Deadline reports that the film follows David (Soto) and Creeper (LaBeouf), who work as ‘tax collectors’ for a crime lord called Wizard. Their job entails collecting their boss’ cut from the profits of local gangs.
Things take a turn for the worse when Wizard’s old rival returns to Los Angeles from Mexico, upending his business activities. David finds himself desperate to protect what matters most to him – family.
The Tax Collector is written by Ayer and also features actors George Lopez and Cinthya Carmona. It is produced by Ayer, Chris Long, Tyler Thompson, and Matthew Antoun.
