As we wait with bated breaths to witness the first movie to be shot in space, the Tom Cruise film has now found its director in the person of Doug Liman.
The upcoming movie will make history as the first of its kind, and Elon Musk’s SpaceX and NASA will team up with the actor to make the project a reality.
Doug Liman is a frequent collaborator and friend of Cruise, and now Deadline reports that the Edge of Tomorrow helmer has been chosen to direct the space film.
According to the report, Cruise and Liman are behind the idea to make the upcoming movie in space. Now, the filmmaker has not only signed on to direct but is also producing alongside Cruise and working on the screenplay.
Liman is known for directing Swingers (1996), Go (1999), The Bourne Identity (2002), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Jumper (2008), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and American Made (2017).
He first worked with Cruise on the science-fiction film Edge of Tomorrow. Given his impressive resume, the forthcoming project should be his best yet.
