It’s been quite some time but fans of the award-winning Avatar can afford to wait some more because they know that what is coming in the sequel may surpass its predecessor.

Production on the upcoming sequels had stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but thanks to the gradual easing in New Zealand (where the movie was being shot before the lockdown), director James Cameron, the cast and crew are back at work.

Producer Jon Landau has posted a picture of photographer Mark Fellman doing an underwater shoot.

In the photo, the performance-capture actor rides what looks to be some sort of underwater vehicle that will most likely be transformed into some kind of creature in the finished work. The photo was reportedly taken last year but it has only just made its way online.

It may not reveal much but fans will begin to imagine the scale of the upcoming sequel knowing the great lengths Cameron had to go to get things moving (he waited years for the technology for his sequels to be available before commencing filming).
