Singer Beyoncé will be recognized and honored at this year’s BET Awards for her humanitarian efforts.
The BET Awards announced several new additions to the show’s lineup, including tributes to NBA icon Kobe Bryant and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Little Richard.
Beyoncé will be receiving the Humanitarian Award as rapper Lil Wayne pays tribute to Kobe and Wayne Brady honors Little Richard.
Beyoncé’s award comes as a result of her BeyGOOD Initiative and ‘Formation Scholars’ (which was established to encourage and support young women in four colleges).
The singer had partnered with UNICEF to create ‘BeyGood4Burundi’, a collaborative venture to bring clean water and sanitation to the East African country of Burundi.
In 2018, Beyoncé had created the Homecoming Scholars Award Program which benefited students at eight HBCU colleges and universities.
Recently, responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, she had teamed up with her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, for the #IDIDMYPART mobile testing initiative to encourage residents on Houston in black and brown communities disproportionately affected by the virus to know their health status.
