Following the continued protests by U.S. citizens as a result of the death of George Floyd, Canadian singer and songwriter The Weeknd has made a donation of $500,000 to Black Lives Matter causes.
The artist shared a snapshot of his contribution on his Instagram account, revealing that he had donated $100,000 to National Bail Out, $200,000 to The Colin Kaepernick Know Your Rights Camp Legal Defense Initiative, and $200,000 to Black Lives Matter Global Network.
His words read:
Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives. Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it’s a small amount.”
Other stars who have also made donations to the Black Lives Matter movement recently include Seth Rogen, Harry Styles, Blake Lively, and Halsey.
