A hint from Living in Bondage: Breaking Free executive producer Charles Okpaleke has subtly confirmed that a sequel is in the works.
Released late last year, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free turned out to be one of the best movies to come out of Nollywood in recent times.
Winning several accolades, it was directed by veteran Nigerian actor Ramsey Nouah (his first time on directorial duties) who also starred as its antagonist, Richard Williams.
The film was able to follow up on the events of its predecessors (released in the early ‘90s) while bringing viewers up to speed, making the plot so clear that seeing the first two movies wasn’t a requirement to enjoy the latest one.
On June 2, 2020, Okpaleke dropped the following words on Instagram, officially teasing the sequel:
I just finished a 4 hour zoom meeting with @2scoopsofnikki @ramseynouah @chrisodeh. All I can say for now is Richard Williams would pay some people a visit! It’s official. Who should he start with? The reporter, Andy, Nnamdi, or Tobi? Or maybe Kelly.”
