Doctor Strange actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is excited about the upcoming sequel.
It came as a shock to many fans when it was announced that Scott Derrickson, the filmmaker who directed the first part, would not be helming the sequel.
Sam Raimi, the one responsible for the original Spider-Man trilogy, has come aboard the production, and Baron Mordo actor Chiwetel Ejiofor can’t wait to see his vision for the film play out.
Speaking with GamesRadar about his upcoming Netflix movie The Old Guard, Ejiofor had words of praise for Raimi.
I love Sam Raimi, so I’m very excited that he’s making a film, the second Doctor Strange. He brings to anything he does, a wealth of imagination and passion. In this genre, he’s just one of the seminal figures. I remember seeing Darkman when I was a kid. It was beyond, it’s so amazing.”
He continued:
So I think he has an incredible mind and I think he’s really able to bring that mind into his storytelling in a really unique way, and it’s very suited to the world that’s been created by Doctor Strange, and I’m very excited to see what he does with that world.
I loved Doctor Strange as a kid, but he was always after Spider-Man and Batman for me, he was probably at number five for me of great comic book characters. He was so original, but when we had that moment in Spider-Man 2 I had no idea that we would ever be making a Doctor Strange movie, so it was really funny to me that coincidentally that line was in the movie. I gotta say I wish we had the foresight to know that I was going to be involved in the project.”
Actor Shia LaBeouf takes his movie roles seriously…
The Transformers star will be seen in David Ayer’s forthcoming crime drama The Tax Collector, and a recent report reveals that he got a real tattoo for the role of a gangster.
Director Ayer (with whom the actor has worked with on the movie Fury) discussed what it was like working with him, and said that Shia got a full-on very real chest tattoo for his role in The Tax Collector.
He’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, and he’s the most committed to body and soul. He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I’ve never known anyone that committed.”
This isn’t the first time Shia has been praised before as his former co-star Dakota Johnson also called him the most talented actor she has ever worked with.
