Lionsgate has officially confirmed that John Wick 5 is happening.
Keanu Reeves delighted fans around the world with his portrayal of the dog-loving hitman whose quest for vengeance put him in the crosshairs of some of his most capable colleagues.
What made John Wick stand out was the well-shot action scenes and never-before-seen gunplay that immersed viewers in the spectacle.
The film has spawned two sequels, with a third in development, and now, a fifth film has been revealed which will be shot back to back with the fourth one.
Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer recently said that the studio is aiming for production to begin “early next year”, confirming that a fifth movie would be made.
His words:
We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theaters Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”
Antebellum, the new horror movie starring Janelle Monae is heading straight for a Video on Demand release in September.
A report from THR reveals that the film will arrive on VOD on September 18, 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic scare which makes a theatrical release unthinkable.
Written and directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, it stars Janelle Monae as a successful author who finds herself trapped in what appears to be the pre-American Civil War period of the southern United States.
Filmmakers Bush and Renz released the following statement:
While we designed Antebellum to be consumed as a communal experience in the theater, we are thrilled by the unique opportunity we have to pivot to a different kind of communal moment in our culture. As we face the realities of systemic racism in our country, which have crescendoed to this current inflection point in 2020, we understand how imperative it is to bring Antebellum to the broadest audience possible, while also prioritizing health and safety. It is our ardent hope that by sharing our film widely, both nationally and internationally, we will transform the moviegoing experience from home into a true event.”
