The women wing of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State stormed the state’s National Assembly to protest over the impeachment of the Speaker.
The women, who walked from the Government House along Osadebey Avenue to the Anthony Enahoro Complex, along Ring Road, said they were in solidarity with the embattled Speaker of the House, Mr Frank Okiye.
Okiye was reportedly impeached on Thursday by 17 out of the 24 lawmakers at a private residence in Benin, and in his stead, a new Speaker, Mr Victor Edoror, was elected.
A section of the women, who claimed to be spiritualists, laid curses at the Assembly gate.
They condemned the reported impeachment of Okiye by the 17 lawmakers.
