‘Black Widow’ Director Says It’s More Serious Than Other MCU Films, ‘The Flash’ To Include Ray Fisher’s Cyborg & ‘The Matrix 4’ Difference In Style From Predecessors

Natasha Romanoff’s story is yet to make its way to movie audiences, no thanks to the pandemic. While we await its arrival, new details keep emerging to keep us anticipating its coming.

Black Widow will be a personal tale as it deals with the Avenger’s life before she began working for SHIELD, letting fans in on a chapter that has been previously unexplored.

In a feature with Total Film, director Cate Shortland has said that the film is more serious than previous MCU movies.

Shortland says the movie’s seriousness is borne out of Natasha’s lack of superpowers, and so for the most part of her life, she had to depend on grit and determination which will be highlighted in her solo journey.

“She’s the only character that doesn’t have superpowers. We saw that as a strength, because she always has to dig really deep to get out of shit situations. And we just put her in a lot of hard situations. I thought about women walking to the train station being attacked, and what happens.

Natasha’s like [Jodie Foster’s Clarice] from The Silence Of The Lambs. It’s great, because when she holds her gun, it shakes. But she’s still really tough inside, and resilient. And I wanted to bring that to the character. So you’re not just watching her fly through situations, knowing she’ll get out of it. You want to see her grit and determination. And that’s what we got.”

Ray Fisher’s Cyborg will reportedly appear in The Flash…

After his comedic turn in Justice League, DC’s Barry Allen is set to have his story told in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash, with Ezra Miller set to reprise the role of the speedster.

A new report from The Wrap reveals that Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has been offered a cameo role in the upcoming film, citing anonymous sources with personal knowledge of the matter.

Additionally, the news outlet dished that The Flash will officially begin filming in March 2021, meaning it will arrive most likely in the latter part of 2022.

The Matrix 4 has a shift in style from its predecessors…

Not a lot of franchises can boast of the impact that the Matrix films have had on audiences around the world. Its unique story and pacesetting action sequences heralded the beginning of a new era in Hollywood.

Hoping to bring a fresh perspective in the franchise, Lana Wachowski returns to the director’s chair, bringing stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss for the ride.

In a chat with Sirius XM’s Jess Cage Show, actor Neil Patrick Harris (who has an unnamed role in the film) mentioned that the director’s visual style has undergone a change in the fourth chapter.

According to Harris, the film is ambitious and he also said that his part in the movie is a fulfillment of his desire to “lead” a blockbuster film.

His comments:

“I think she has a great inclusive energy and her style has shifted visually from what she had done to what she is currently doing. I’ve always wanted to be a lead in a big giant action movie with wires and stuff. And this is not bad for me, but it’s certainly tangential and fun for me to be able to play in the sandbox a little bit.”
