Spectrum Originals and Paramount Network are collaborating to co-produce a limited series revolving around the life of legendary country music star Tammy Wynette.
Variety reports that Jessica Chastain will play the late artist in the series titled George & Tammy, which will chronicle the complicated relationship of the power couple.
The series is based on the book The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George, written by the couple’s daughter, Georgette Jones.
Tammy Wynette is remembered as the “First Lady of Country Music” and her 20 number one songs on the country charts earned her a place as one of the most influential women in music.
A few weeks ago, a movie poster for the French film Cuties went viral for the wrong reasons; it appeared to sexualize underage children.
The movie is now available for streaming on the platform and people are calling for a boycott of the film in the ensuing backlash that it has attracted.
Cuties is about an eleven-year-old girl named Amy who begins to rebel against her conservative family’s tradition when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance group.
Now, the streaming giant has responded to the controversy surrounding the film, saying that it is actually against the sexualization of young children.
In a statement it released, Netflix said:
“Cuties is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children. It’s an award-winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we’d encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie.”
