Paris St German forward, Kylian Mabappe, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The World Cup champion will miss France’s Nations League game against Croatia and Paris Saint-Germain’s season opener following his COVID-19 status.
He started for the Les Blues against Sweden on Saturday night and scored the only goal in the 1-0 win.
According to Sky Sports, the France Football Federation confirmed Mbappe’s status in a statement on Monday.
The 21-year-old striker was tested ahead of France’s game against Croatia on Tuesday in UEFA Nations League.
“Kylian Mbappé will not participate in France-Croatia, Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m. at the Stade de France,” the statement read.
“The result of his Covid-19 test, carried out by UEFA on Monday morning, was found to be positive, he was placed away from the group after receiving the results, at the end of training, before regaining his home in the evening.
“Like the entire delegation, Kylian Mbappé had undergone a test prior to meeting. The result was negative, like the one last Wednesday, at the request of UEFA.”
Mbappe is the 7th player from PSG to have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Neymar, Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi, Keylor Navas, Angel di Maria, and Leandro Paredes have also tested positive for the virus.
