Arsenal footballer Pablo Mari underwent successful surgery on Friday, exactly one week after being stabbed. He managed to survive a deadly knife attack this past Thursday at an Italian supermarket.
Monza confirmed to AFP that the 29-year-old Spanish defender is “fine”, who Arsenal loaned to Monza this summer.
Mari was crossing the street when he was hit in the back by a moped. He went straight to Milan’s Niguarda hospital for treatment.
“I’ll most likely be in here for two to three days,” Monza said.
The man grabbed a knife from the shelf, and then fatally attacked Mari in a Carrefour supermarket on the outskirts of Milan. He was one of several people who were attacked by the man with psychological problems.
In a tweet, Monza said that they are “united in grief” with the supermarket’s family.
