BREAKING: Abducted Osun Farmers Released After Payment Of N6m Ransom

Two farmers, Samuel Oyedotun and Tobiloba Fashola, were kidnapped while returning from their farm along the Ede/Ileoogbo road in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State last Wednesday.

The abductors demanded a ransom of N25 million, but later agreed to collect N6 million, which was delivered to them in a border community between Kogi and Kwara State.

However, after the ransom was delivered, three relatives, including the elder brother of Samuel, were detained and an additional N24 million was demanded for their release.

On Wednesday morning, Samuel and Tobiloba were released in a bush, and another relative who was among those that went to deliver the ransom in Kogi state was also released.

The release of the two farmers and their relative comes as a relief to their families and the community, who were deeply concerned for their safety. The incident highlights the ongoing problem of kidnapping in the region, and the devastating impact it can have on families and communities.

The kidnappers reportedly agreed to collect N6 million as a ransom payment, and the money was delivered to them in a border community between Kogi and Kwara State. However, despite receiving the ransom, the kidnappers still detained three relatives of the farmers, including the elder brother of Samuel, and demanded an additional N24 million for their release.

The families of the abducted farmers have expressed their gratitude for the safe return of their loved ones, but have also called for stricter measures to be put in place to combat kidnapping in the region. They are also appealing to the government to provide more support and resources to help families deal with the emotional and financial impact of such incidents.

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release of the farmers and their relative, but stated that investigations into the incident are still ongoing. It is believed that the kidnappers may have fled across the border into Kogi state, and authorities are working to track them down and bring them to justice.
