On Sunday morning, Gervonta Davis successfully defended his WBA world lightweight championship title with a TKO victory over Hector Luis Garcia after eight rounds.
This marks Davis’ 28th win, with 26 KOs, while Garcia suffered his first professional loss in his 17th match.
The fight was off to a slow start, with few punches thrown in the first couple of rounds. However, Davis picked up the pace in the fourth round, landing several jabs and bringing the crowd to its feet.
In the eighth round, an altercation in the stands briefly stopped the match, but Davis resumed and ended the fight with a strong performance until the bell.

Despite the loss, Garcia said he thought the fight was going well until the disturbance. Prior to this match, Davis faced the possibility of having the fight called off due to his arrest and charge for domestic violence in December, which he denies and was released on bail for. Davis is scheduled to face Ryan Garcia on April 15th in a highly anticipated showdown.
In the co-feature, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis won the interim IBF welterweight championship by unanimous decision against Karen Chukhadzhian, remaining undefeated at 30-0.
This marked the first time Ennis had gone the distance in his career. On the undercard, Roiman Villa pulled off an upset with a majority decision victory over Rashidi Ellis, knocking him down at the bell in the 12th round and causing Ellis to suffer his first loss in 25 fights.
