A collision occurred on Saturday between two subway trains on Line 3 of Mexico City’s Metro system. One person was killed and 41 were injured in the accident, which took place between the Potrero and La Raza stations.
Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum initially reported that 16 people had been taken to hospitals for treatment, but later revised the number to 41.
Four people who were trapped in the trains were rescued.
Emergency services, including ambulances and rescue teams, rushed to the scene to assist the injured, while police and soldiers cordoned off the area.
Edgar Montiel, an electrician who was on one of the trains, described the crash as a “very strong” impact and said that he and other passengers were thrown to the floor of the car amid screams and cries for help.
