Award-winning filmmaker Tope Oshin's new film to debut on Netflix

Award-winning filmmaker Tope Oshin’s latest movie, “Here Love Lies,” is set to release on March 3, 2023, on various platforms, including Netflix. The movie follows Amanda, a single parent and travel blogger, as she embarks on a social media romance with American tour guide Michael, leading to a trip to the US that opens up unexpected doors.

Oshin, the director, producer, writer, and lead actress of the film, is a multiple award-winning filmmaker with credits including New Money, We Don’t Live Here Anymore, and UpNorth. Here Love Lies is the first African film to receive the ReFrame Stamp, an initiative by the Sundance Institute, Women In Film, and IMDBpro, marking its success in promoting gender balance and female-identifying people in film and TV productions.

The movie stars Tope Oshin, Tim Shelburne, Sam Dede, Angel Unigwe, Tina Mba, Omowunmi Dada, Omozele Gabriel, Barbara Walsh, Bambi Everson, and Daniel Etim Effiong, with Daniel Ademinokan serving as the co-producer, cinematographer, editor, color grader, and music supervisor.

HERE LOVE LIES received the prestigious AMAA award for Best Film by an African-born director living abroad in September 2022 and had its world premiere screening at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC as part of its debut presentation of the +234 Connect Film Festival.

Tope Oshin described the movie as a “mind-boggling tale that starts rocky, develops into a steady-romantic-family-oriented story, and then quickly becomes a dark edgy dangerous thriller.”

The film was co-produced, shot, edited, color graded, and had music supervision by Daniel Ademinokan, the CEO of Leon Global Media, LLC, a Film, Television and Digital Media production company based in the United States.

“Here Love Lies” promises to be an enthralling movie experience, and Sunbow Productions invites viewers to witness this compelling tale of love and danger when it premieres on March 3, 2023.
