Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, says he confronted the All Progressives Congress to present vice president Yemi Osinbajo as its presidential candidate.
Obi was heard saying this while speaking with London-based cleric, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, at Dele Momodu’s birthday party in the UK.
Obi was heard telling the cleric that he is desperate to see the country work and even confronted the ruling All Progressives Congress about it. The Labour Party presidential candidate also stated that if the APC wants the country to work, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would have been given the presidential ticket.
He said, “I’m desperate to see Nigeria work, I don’t hide it any day any time. I even confronted APC, if you want the country to work, why didn’t you bring Osinbajo?”
Tinubu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr Obi of Labour Party (LP) in the 25 February presidential election.
Mr Obi, who was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, came third in the election.
He is, however, challenging Mr Tinubu’s election as president-elect.
Mr Obi is praying the court to nullify the poll over allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act by Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC.
The Labour Party candidate also accused INEC and Mr Tinubu of manipulating the poll in favour of the latter.
