Frank Lampard made five changes to the Chelsea lineup that suffered a loss to Arsenal earlier in the week, as he sought his first victory since taking over as interim head coach. Although Wesley Fofana was ruled out of the afternoon’s match due to a hamstring injury, Lampard revealed the decision was made out of caution.
Chelsea began the game on a high note when Conor Gallagher headed the ball past Neto following an impressive N’Golo Kante cross. However, Bournemouth managed to equalize just ten minutes later with a goal from Matias Vina, leaving the two teams tied as they entered halftime.
With only 15 minutes remaining, Ben Chilwell was forced to leave the field due to a suspected hamstring injury. The England international could potentially miss next week’s match against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.
Benoit Badiashile, who started in place of the injured Fofana, scored Chelsea’s second goal off a fantastic Hakim Ziyech free-kick. Joao Felix secured the victory with a late goal, giving Lampard his first win as the team’s caretaker boss.
