In an exclusive report from LatestNaija.news, Manchester United icon Gary Neville has voiced his apprehension over the club’s proposed £60 million investment in Chelsea player Mason Mount.
The decorated English player is reportedly on the cusp of making a switch to the Red Devils from Chelsea in the upcoming summer season. Mount, an England international, saw limited action in the recent season at Chelsea, with a record of just 35 appearances across all platforms and netting three goals.
Neville, however, has expressed his uncertainty about Mount being the ideal acquisition for United, considering the club already boasts a strong midfield roster including stalwarts like Casemiro, Fred, and Bruno Fernandes.
“I must admit, the Mason Mount news caught me off guard. Especially considering the reported £60 million tag. Not that I question his skills – he’s undeniably a talented player,” Neville said.
“But when I consider United’s current lineup, with Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred, and Scott McTominay, I’m unsure if Mount is the piece of the puzzle that fits in perfectly. I remain a bit skeptical,” he further explained, as reported by METRO.
