Iga Swiatek displayed her resilience and talent on Saturday as she triumphed over Karolina Muchova in a thrilling match to secure her third French Open title. In doing so, Swiatek became the first woman since 2007 to successfully defend the Roland Garros crown.
The 22-year-old Polish tennis sensation now joins an elite group of players in the Open era who have won their first four Grand Slam finals. Her previous victories include the 2020 and 2022 titles at Roland Garros, as well as last year’s US Open triumph. Only Monica Seles and Naomi Osaka have achieved this remarkable feat before her.
Swiatek’s victory is even more impressive considering her age. She is now the youngest woman to win back-to-back French Open titles since Monica Seles accomplished the same feat in the early 1990s. The last player to win consecutive Roland Garros crowns was Justine Henin 16 years ago.

Throughout the tournament, Swiatek showcased her dominance on the clay courts of Paris. Her record now stands at an impressive 28 wins and only two losses in five visits to the French Open.
Karolina Muchova, ranked 43rd in the world, proved to be a formidable opponent in the final. As the fourth-lowest ranked woman to reach the French Open final, she displayed her skills and determination, particularly with her notable victories over top-ranked players, including Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.
However, Swiatek wasted no time in asserting her dominance. She applied early pressure on Muchova, capitalizing on a miscued forehand to break serve in the second game. The top-seeded player continued her strong performance, maintaining a solid lead throughout the first set.
Although Muchova attempted a comeback, Swiatek thwarted her efforts, ultimately winning the opening set.
With her latest triumph, Swiatek adds another chapter to her remarkable career and solidifies her status as a rising star in the world of tennis. Fans eagerly await her future performances as she continues to make waves on the international stage.
