England, France, and the Netherlands secured their spots in the Euro 2024 knockout stages on Monday after Albania’s 1-0 defeat to Spain in Group B, courtesy of Ferran Torres’ early strike in Duesseldorf.
From Group C, England advanced, while France and the Netherlands progressed from Group D. These teams are among the top three of the four best third-placed squads in the tournament.
On Tuesday, all three teams will compete in their final group-stage games, aiming for a top-two finish to secure a more favorable draw for the last-16 stage.
England currently lead Group C with four points and will face Slovenia in Cologne. A victory would guarantee them the top spot, while a draw would be sufficient if Denmark fails to beat Serbia in the other group match.
France and the Netherlands, both with four points after a goalless draw in Group D on Friday, are also looking to finish strong. France will play against the already-eliminated Poland, and the Netherlands will go up against Austria, who need a win to advance to the knockouts with six points.
If France and the Netherlands both win or draw on Tuesday, their positions for first place will be determined by overall goal difference, followed by total goals scored, disciplinary records, and their European qualifiers rankings.
