Former NLC President Takai Shamang Abducted in Kaduna State

Mr. Takai Shamang, a former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has been abducted in his hometown of Biniki, located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The 78-year-old Shamang, who also served as the President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers (now the National Union of Electricity Employees) from 1982 to 1989, was taken from his residence around 8:00 pm on Friday.

Confirming the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Shamang’s daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, stated that her father was abducted at his home in Biniki.

In addition to his previous roles, Shamang is the President and Founder of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation (GAWON Foundation).
