Kenyan Runners Steal the Show with Thrilling Finishes at AJC Peachtree Road Race

The AJC Peachtree Road Race witnessed dramatic finishes on Thursday morning, with both the men’s and women’s races decided in the final moments.

In the women’s race, Kenya’s Stacy Ndiwa emerged victorious with an unofficial time of 31:12. Ndiwa managed to overtake fellow Kenyan Irene Cheptai in the last few meters to claim the win.

The men’s race saw an equally exciting conclusion. Sabastian Sawe of Kenya led the race as he rounded the final turn, seemingly on his way to a comfortable victory. However, Daniel Ebenyo launched a determined late surge, nearly catching Sawe. Despite Ebenyo’s effort, Sawe crossed the finish line first with an unofficial time of 28:03, just two seconds ahead of Ebenyo.

Sawe, 28, adds this victory to his impressive list of achievements, including a gold medal in the half marathon at last year’s World Road Running Championships. Ndiwa, who won gold at the 2018 African Championships in the 10,000m, also added another significant title to her career.

Earlier in the event, the wheelchair division races concluded with Daniel Romanchuk winning for the men and Susannah Scaroni taking the title for the women.
