Argentina’s captain, Lionel Messi, has officially become the most decorated player in football history. Messi played 60 minutes in Argentina’s 1-0 victory over Colombia in the 2024 Copa America final, marking the 45th trophy of his illustrious career.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Messi’s former Barcelona teammate, Dani Alves, who has 44 trophies.
Throughout his career, Messi has secured 35 club titles with Barcelona and six international trophies with Argentina, including the Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner also claimed the Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Since joining PSG in 2021, Messi has added three more trophies to his collection: two Ligue 1 titles (2021-22, 2022-23) and the Trophee des Champions (2022). Additionally, he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina and the 2023 Leagues Cup with Inter Miami.
