Eight Nations Secure Spot in 2025 AFCON Tournament

In the race for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), eight countries have successfully secured their place in the prestigious tournament set to be held in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that Congo, Senegal, Egypt, Angola, Cameroon, Algeria, Burkina Faso, and host nation Morocco have all qualified. The confirmation came through a series of posts on CAF’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday.

Congo, Senegal, Egypt, and Angola are the most recent additions to the growing list of qualifiers, having secured crucial victories in their respective matches earlier today.

Congo triumphed over Tanzania with a 2-0 win at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, securing their spot. Angola edged out Niger Republic with a narrow 1-0 victory, while Egypt also sealed a 1-0 win over Mauritania. Senegal joined the qualifiers after defeating Malawi with the same 1-0 scoreline.
