Nigeria and Bahrain Strengthen Ties with New Diplomatic Agreement

Nigeria and Bahrain have officially established diplomatic relations following high-level bilateral discussions held over the weekend. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, announced the development after meeting with his Bahraini counterpart, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, in Manama.

In a statement released by Tuggar’s media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, the ministers signed a communiqué to formalize the relationship. The talks centered on fostering foreign direct investment from Bahrain, strengthening trade ties, and boosting cooperation in the oil and gas industries. Particular attention was given to onshore projects and the expansion of Nigeria’s LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) operations through the development of the eighth train LNG project.

The discussions also included plans for training Nigerian diplomats and enhancing collaboration between both nations in international organizations. This new partnership is expected to open doors for mutual growth in investment and resource development.
