Only Good Films held its official industry launch on Wednesday evening with the premiere of For Better Or Worse, a film exploring love, loyalty, and modern relationships in a contemporary African setting.
Though the premiere marks the studio's formal debut, the film is actually Only Good Films' seventh completed title. The company has been building its catalogue quietly, and this launch event signals the next phase of what Lydia Lawrence-Nze, the studio's CEO, describes as an already evolving creative journey.
Media personality Denrele Edun hosted the exclusive premiere, which drew a notable crowd of industry figures. Actors Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Mike Ezuruonye, Bolaji Ogunmola, Yvonne Jegede, Omowunmi Dada, Stan Nze, Blessing Nze, and Efe Irele attended alongside filmmakers, producers, and media executives.
For Better Or Worse was produced by Vincent Nwachukwu and directed by Jblaze. The film relies on grounded storytelling and compelling performances to anchor its themes, with the studio betting that authentic narratives and emotional intelligence will resonate with audiences both at home and internationally.
The screening earned what attendees called a "10 over 10 across board" reception. The audience response validated both the quality of the film itself and the production standards Only Good Films has set for itself.
Lawrence-Nze told guests during the evening that the studio was founded on a simple conviction. "Only Good Films was founded on the belief that powerful storytelling can shape culture and inspire meaningful conversation," she said. "For Better Or Worse reflects our commitment to producing films that are not only engaging, but enduring."
With seven titles now complete and an industry launch that generated strong endorsement from peers and executives, Only Good Films has positioned itself as a serious player in contemporary African cinema. The studio's next moves will show whether this debut moment translates into sustained momentum and wider distribution for its catalogue.
