The All Progressives Congress has commended its Enugu State chapter for conducting free, fair, and credible House of Representatives primary elections, with Governor Peter Mbah participating in voting at Owo Ward in Nkanu East Local Government Area.

Mbah joined party members at the ward to affirm Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, the sole aspirant for the Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency seat, as the APC's House of Representatives candidate for the 2027 general elections. The governor's presence underscored the party's confidence in the process and its chosen candidates across the state.

Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primary Elections in Enugu State, addressed journalists at the party's secretariat after monitoring the exercise. He said the primary elections demonstrated the party's commitment to internal democracy and consensus-building. "Enugu State APC has continued to stand out as a shining example in internal democracy, party cohesion, consensus-building, and commitment to the party's success over and above individual interests," Funkekeme said.

Funkekeme praised the leadership of Mbah and the State Executive Committee for the peaceful conduct of the elections. He noted that reports from across the state indicated the same level of organisation and discipline witnessed in Owo Ward, where his team directly observed proceedings.

Addressing party faithful at Owo Ward, Mbah thanked them for the large turnout and peaceful behaviour throughout the exercise. He said similar scenes would play out across most federal constituencies in the state, with contests expected in only one or two areas. "You are becoming a model of what grassroots democracy should be, what internal party democracy should be; and an example of a rancour-free primary exercise," he told the gathering.

The governor urged party members to actively promote the achievements of the APC government at both state and federal levels ahead of the 2027 elections. He highlighted improvements in the country's macroeconomic situation, which he said had enabled states and local governments to serve citizens better. "The pressure and tensions we had at our macroeconomic level have gone," Mbah said.

Mbah called on party faithful to carry the APC's message to communities across Nigeria, emphasising that the party had laid strong foundations for the country's development. He warned against complacency, saying Nigerians must support the APC to complete its agenda. "We cannot afford to go backwards. We must move forward," he stressed, urging members to move beyond passive support and actively engage in door-to-door campaigns to explain the party's programmes and their benefits.

Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the state's party chairman, and other leaders joined the monitoring team from Abuja in observing the exercise across Enugu State.
