Nsukka zone backs Tinubu, Mbah for 2027, raises N102m

Six local government areas in Enugu State's Nsukka zone have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah ahead of the 2027 elections.

The endorsement came from Nsukka, Igboeze North, Igboeze South, Udenu, Uzo Uwani, and Igbo Etiti local councils, which together make up the zone. The show of support went beyond words: the zone presented a cheque for N102 million to cover Mbah's reelection nomination form.

This move signals early alignment within the Enugu political establishment as 2027 campaigns begin to take shape. The Nsukka zone represents a significant voting bloc within the state, making the backing a strategic asset for both Tinubu and Mbah.

The timing reflects how political movements in Nigeria's southeast are already crystallising around the next presidential and gubernatorial contests, with local leaders mobilising resources to demonstrate commitment to their chosen candidates.
