The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Nsikak Kingsley, 38, for beating his father Adone Peter to death during a domestic row in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area on an unspecified date.
The dispute between father and son turned violent, with Kingsley allegedly attacking the older man and inflicting severe head injuries on him. Peter was rushed to hospital but doctors confirmed him dead while he was receiving treatment.
Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, reported the incident to police. Detectives tracked Kingsley down and brought him into custody, where he remains.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Jimoh Abayomi confirmed the death and said the corpse has been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy. He said the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further work, and Kingsley will be arraigned in court once investigations wrap up.
Abayomi described the killing as unfortunate and condemnable. "No disagreement, whether among family members or within communities, should be allowed to escalate into violence and loss of life," he said. He promised a thorough investigation and said anyone found culpable would face the full force of the law.
Abayomi urged the public to settle conflicts peacefully and report violent incidents to security agencies immediately. The case will return to SCID after the autopsy report is completed.
