‘Spenser Confidential’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg & Winston Duke Form An Unlikely Alliance

‘Spenser Confidential’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg & Winston Duke Form An Unlikely Alliance

A rugged detective and a towering hothead team up to take down the criminal underbelly in Peter Berg’s action-comedy Spenser Confidential.

In what is similar to the path chosen by Michael Bay, Berg employs cheesy one-liners, intense action, two formidable lead actors and comedic undertones for the Netflix movie that looks to be a buddy cop flick of sorts.

Action star Mark Wahlberg (Transformers) is Spenser, a detective whose rugged ways incurs the wrath of some bad guys who have him framed up, leading to his incarceration.

Upon being released, Spenser is introduced to Hawk (played by Black Panther’s Winston Duke), a guy who obviously doesn’t get along well with others.

The two unlikely partners must take on drug cartels, bent cops and corrupt politicians in a city that is filled with those who want to kill them every chance they get.

The trailer is an exciting ride, with Wahlberg’s screen charisma and Duke’s infectious swagger paving the way for what seems to be Netflix’s next blockbuster. Also, rapper Post Malone makes his acting debut and this should be a major appeal for music fans.

Spenser, in particular, seems to be a magnet for violence as he gets in unending scuffles (his girlfriend also appears to be a rage machine!) and when Hawk decides to get in a fight of his own, he shows that he damn well knows how to throw a punch too!
