Lagos Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate Jide Adeniran says no one should be shocked about recent endorsement of Babajide Sanwo-Olu by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike. He also makes it clear that he never supported his gubernatorial ambition.
Civil society activist Jandor popularly known as the PDP governorship candidate spoke about his upcoming campaign in an interview on Channels Television Politics Today.
He said, “I’m not surprised by what he said because it’s Governor Wike. Nobody should be surprised because of his track record. It isn’t shocking to anyone besides you since you’re not in this country.”
“For me, just like the party spokesperson said in their statement, how can someone who didn’t support me to their fullest while I was seeking their party ticket feel he has the right to take decisions in Lagos?”
“I became a governor without his support although he had supported Lagos PDA in the past. He supported somebody else and I remember telling Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, that his friend is not supporting me and I still picked that ticket.
“Nobody expects that a party man, a national leader will do that for any reason at all, but it has happened and there is nothing we can do about it. My worry is this, he should be our role model at his level, as a governor, your office should come with a symbol of decorum.”
Adeniran said that he has now moved on to his next business. He will be undertaking campaigns and touring the 245 wards in the state.
“Every day I go around to different areas talking to people and presenting my campaign. So far, I’ve been visiting city wards in Lagos State. The people of Lagos have been looking for fresh, transparent governance for a long time.”
