Poju Oyemade, the senior pastor of The Covenant Nation and convener of The Platform Nigeria, has strongly denied the allegations made by Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma, a Catholic priest in the Abuja Archdiocese, regarding gospel artist Mercy Chinwo charging fees for singing at churches.
Oyemade, known for organizing The Platform Nigeria, a platform for discussions on nation-building and development, including notable speakers like former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, took to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday to dismiss the false and damaging statement made by Fr. Oluoma in an online video.

In his tweet, Oyemade stated, “Mercy Chinwo sang at our service at Lekki last Sunday, and the honorarium we gave was at our discretion. She made NO formal charges.”
Oyemade directly addressed a report where Fr. Oluoma claimed that Chinwo demanded 10 million naira to perform at worship centers, criticizing gospel musicians who ask for exorbitant fees to perform in places of worship.

The response from Pastor Oyemade clarifies that Mercy Chinwo did not make any formal charges for her performance at their service, and the honorarium given to her was decided by their discretion.
The allegation made by Fr. Oluoma stirred controversy, and Oyemade’s swift response aims to rectify any false impressions and uphold the integrity of Mercy Chinwo as a gospel artist.
As the issue unfolds, it remains to be seen how the involved parties will address and resolve the conflicting claims.
