The transfer marks Mendy’s exit from Chelsea after three years with the club. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal is valued at approximately £17 million ($21.4 million). Mendy has agreed to terms that will keep him at Al-Ahli until 2026. During his time at Chelsea, Mendy played a crucial role in the team’s success, including their UEFA Champions League triumph in 2021.

Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Mendy is part of their ongoing effort to streamline their squad this summer. The club has already allowed midfielder N’Golo Kante to join Al-Ittihad and defender Kalidou Koulibaly to move to Al-Hilal. Mendy becomes the third player to depart, and there are indications that winger Hakim Ziyech may also make a move to Al-Nassr in the near future.

The Blues will be looking to finalize Ziyech’s transfer to Saudi Arabia as they continue their squad restructuring under manager Mauricio Pochettino. The reduction in the number of players will enable Chelsea to optimize their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
